What is a Webaquest?   A Webaquest is a customized learning activity that guides a student through a particular topic by using information located on legitimate public web sites. For example, if a student is studying the Civil War, he/she would be guided to legitimate, public sites that have information on the Civil War. The Webaquest will take the student through specific activities/questions to learn from the sites.       How many Webaquests and what topics are available?   Each grade level has several different subject categories that the Webaquests reside in. Under each category, there are several topics. For instance, under History, there are a number of Webaquest topics that we have available. info@advermatch.com, or call our customer service number listed on the contact page.       Who is responsible for creating each Webaquest?   Unlike some other web based activities on the internet, all Webaquests have been created by current teachers, or people with a certified degree in education.       What kind of web sites are used to create the Webaquests?   Only legitimate web sites whose facts have been verified will be used in our Webaquests. We will not utilize any independent sites such as individual blogs, Wikipedia, etc., due to the fact that there is a lot of mis-information on the internet that could lead a student to incorrect facts.       How much does a subscription cost?   All of our subscription costs are for unlimited access for an entire year. For a school, the costs round out to be about $1.00 per student per year, for an individual, the costs are similar to the costs associated with purchasing a curriculum activity book.       Is there an educational objective to each quest?   Yes, the educational goal of each quest is identified in the Webaquest description. We utilize Blooms Taxonomy of learning to create the questions/tasks.       Why can't students just search the web on their own to find relevant information?   The resources on the internet are so vast that it is often very difficult to weed through junk in order to get the relevant information. This, coupled with the fact that most search engines employ a pay per click service where clients pay to be at the top of the result lists. Therefore you are not necessarily getting quality results at the top of most searches. Since our staff has already identified pertinent sites, there is no need to search.       How often are new Webaquests added to the site?   New Webaquests are added on a weekly basis to the site. Therefore, the number of Webaquests per subscription is constantly growing and enhanced throughout the life of the subscription. We also have a feature called "Webarequest" where anyone can suggest a particular Webaquest topic for us to design.       What happens if source website content changes?   Along with adding new Webaquests on a weekly basis, our Quality Assurance team is also monitoring to ensure that our Webaquests are current. If a user finds a link that has changed, he/she can report it to our customer service department and we will make the updates the same day that we receive notification.       Is a Webaquest better to learn from than the typical activity or lesson in a book?   There are a variety of reasons why Webaquests are added value to the learner's experience. a. Utilizing the vast resources of the internet gives us a myriad of possibilities to learn from. There is no possible way that a book can give you as many options. b. Our Webaquests often contain multimedia elements such as video, sounds, and pictures that simply cannot be duplicated in a traditional textbook. For example, rather than reading about the complex cities in the Roman Empire, a student can take a virtual tour through a computer reconstruction. c. The Webaquest subscriptions are much more cost effective than purchasing an additional activity book for each student. d. The content is constantly being updated, unlike a book that you are stuck with the material once you purchase the book; we are adding new Webaquests every week.       How does a school determine their own Return on Investment after purchasing the service?   Through our extensive reporting capabilities, we can tell you exactly how many students have participated in any given Webaquest. We can also tell which particular Webaquests are most popular.       How does the subscription work?   Each School or individual purchases a subscription that is good for one year. The paid subscription gives you a unique password that allows for unlimited use for that year. Once the year is up, the subscription will need to be renewed for the next year. Refer to the pricing section on our site for specific information.       Can my students access Webaquests from their home?   Yes! One of the best features of Webaquests is the ability for students to participate at home. All they would need is a reliable internet connection and the password which will be given to them by their school. Also, the Webaquest site can be accessed from public computers such as libraries and internet cafes.       How can I be sure that the sites you are using are secure?   Our policy is to only use well established and credible sites; therefore security concerns are not needed since the sites we use will be backed up by the public institutions that created the sites, such as the United States Government, for instance.       What about grading, how does a teacher make sure that the student has found the correct answers?   All multiple choice and true false questions are automatically graded by our system. Upon completion of a Webaquest, the score is emailed to the teacher for easy recording in their gradebook. For more complex answers such as short answer and essay questions, the answers are emailed to the teacher for them to review.       What if we are interested in a Webaquest topic that is not on your site?   Any student or teacher can suggest a Webaquest topic through our site.
